Federalist Society member Eugene Volokh is the Thomas M. Siebel Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution (Stanford), and the Gary T. Schwartz Distinguished Professor of Law Emeritus (and Distinguished Research Professor) at UCLA School of Law. In his 30 years at UCLA, he taught First Amendment law, a First Amendment amicus brief clinic, tort law, criminal law, copyright law, and firearms regulation policy. Before going into law teaching, he clerked for Justice Sandra Day O'Connor on the U.S. Supreme Court and for Judge Alex Kozinski on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Emerson Sykes is a Senior Staff Attorney with the ACLU Speech, Privacy, and Technology Project where he focuses on First Amendment free speech protections and an adjunct professor of law at NYU School of Law. From 2019-2020, he was also host of At Liberty, the ACLU’s weekly podcast. Prior to joining the ACLU in 2018, he was a legal advisor for Africa at the International Center for Not-for-Profit Law (ICNL). In that role, he provided technical legal assistance to civil society leaders, government officials, law students, and other stakeholders from across Africa to improve the legal framework protecting the freedom of association, assembly, and expression on the regional and national levels.

Dr. Mary Anne Franks is the Eugene L. and Barbara A. Bernard Professor in Intellectual Property, Technology, and Civil Rights Law at George Washington Law School, where she teaches and writes about First and Second Amendment law, family law, and criminal law and procedure. She also serves as the President and Legislative & Tech Policy Director of the Cyber Civil Rights Initiative (CCRI), the leading U.S.-based nonprofit organization dedicated to combating image-based sexual abuse. She is the author of two award-winning books, Fearless Speech: Breaking Free from the First Amendment (2024) and The Cult of the Constitution: Our Deadly Devotion to Guns and Free Speech (2019).
